Armando Ramirez has made the conversion form the ring to the cage, and Saturday he is ready to show the world what a converted boxer can do in Amateur Mixed Martial Arts.

“I’ve watched it on TV shows and seeing it in real life,” he said. “People invited me to come try it. I am a boxer but I want to try something new, see where it takes me.”

Ramirez plans to use his experience with his fists and deliver a knockout, something that he did in the ring.

“You have to lead with your head, bob and weave, do what you need to do to not get hit,” he said. “I will do this for me and my family and show the crowd what I’ve got.”

The Battle for the Belt takes place at the Seward County Ag Building Saturday. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at Rine’s American Freestyle Karate or by calling 626-KICK, or online at cagetix.com.
