Southwestern Heights wishes to announce the valedictorian and salutatorian of the graduating class of 2014.
Dan Frisby, principal, has announced Kyler Angell, son of Layne and Billie Angell, as valedictorian for the graduating class of 2014.
Devin Walker, son of Theron and Donna Walker, was also announced as salutatorian. These selections are based on the students’ cumulative grade point averages throughout high school.
Angell has been involved in golf, National Honor Society, band and Scholars Bowl. He was also named as a Kansas Honor Scholar by the University of Kansas in the fall for being in the Top 10 percent of his graduating class. After graduation, Angell plans to attend Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he will major in nuclear engineering.
Walker has been involved in National Honor Society, band and FFA, where he currently serves as treasurer. Walker was also named a Kansas Honors Scholar by the University of Kansas this past fall for being in the Top 10 percent of his graduating class. After graduation, Walker plans to attend Garden City Community College, where he will complete the John Deere TECH program.
Southwestern Heights congratulates these students for their achievements and wishes them well in their future endeavors.
Graduation will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Southwestern Heights High School gymnasium.
