The Meade Lady Buffaloes were dealt the same fate as every Central Plains opponent this season. The still undefeated Lady Oilers beat the Lady Buffaloes 60-45 in the 2A State Tournament semi-finals Friday afternoon in Manhattan.
Thursday it was Meade jumping out to a big lead, but Friday the Lady Buffaloes were at the opposite end, falling behind 15-2 to start the game.
Meade got on track after that, outscoring Central Plains 21-17 the rest of the first half to cut the lead to single digits.
But the Lady Oilers scored the first six points of the second half to push the Lady Buffaloes deficit back up to 15 just over a minute in.
Meade never cut the lead below 14 from that point on.
The Lady Buffaloes finished the game 16 of 57 from the field, and 9 of 13 at the free throw line. Central Plains was 22 of 48 from the field and 13 of 20 at the line.
Meade outrebounded the Lady Oilers 41-37, led by Tarah Weins with 13.
Jaylin Stapleton was the only Lady Buffaloes to score in double figures, finishing the game 5-17 from the field, including a pair of threes, and 4-4 at the line for 16 points.
Meade will face Washington County in the third place game Saturday.
