The Meade Lady Buffaloes started their opening round game of the 2A State Tournament in Manhattan against Olpe with an 11-0 run. That proved to be the difference in the game as Meade won to advance, 61-49.

Meade's guard combination of Bailey Olvera and Jaylin Stapleton continually drove the lane and were able to score over Olpe defenders. Olvera finished the game with 22 points, including 10 for 10 at the free throw line; Stapleton added 12.

Meade led 21-10 at the end of the first. Olpe cut the lead down to single digits in the second quarter, but still trailed the Lady Buffaloes 37-28 at the break.

Meade (20-4) was able to keep Olpe at bay throughout the second half, and will now take on No.1 seed Central Plains in the semifinals, Friday at 3 p.m.
