Special to the Leader & Times

According to the Seward County Sherriff’s Department, there is someone calling Liberal and Seward County residents stating and leaving messages that he is Captain or Sgt. Jackson with the Seward County Sheriff’s Office. The caller states that the called person has missed a federal jury summons and that he has a federal warrant for the called person.

He will then tell them that the called person needs to obtain a GREEN DOT MONEY GRAM and call 620-200-6073 with the transaction number.

This is an attempt to extort money from the called person.

Anyone who receives this call or phone message should not send money.

Do not send money or give the caller any information.

Call Detective Ryan McVey at the Seward County Sherriff’s office at 620-309-2000.
