South suffered a setback Tuesday against Ark River League-leading Kenneth Henderson.
South lost the A-game 56-30.
The Apaches started out in an even battle and had tied the Falcons
8-8 in the first quarter.
But Kenneth Henderson scored the next 12 points to take a 20-8 lead.
By halftime Kenneth Henderson had extended to a 34-17 advantage.
Another strong third quarter gave the Falcons a 54-24 edge The Apache defense toughened up in the final quarter and held the Falcon reserves to a single bucket while scoring six points of their own for the 56-30 final.
South wes led by Marcus Phillips who scored 16 points. Kyler Ward added 10.
In the B-game, South struggled offensively in a 24-18 loss.
South scored nine in the first quarter to Kenneth Henderson’s 10.
Armando Frausto hit a three-pointer in the second quarter, and Hector Navarez added a bucket to keep even with the Falcons in the second and head to halftime only trailing 15-14.
But the offense only scored four points in the second half while the Falcons scored nine.
Frausto led the Apaches with nine points.
