Liberal and Great Bend faced off in a Western Athletic Conference battle late Saturday night, and while the results of that game were not known as of press time, what was known is that is likely that the two WAC foes could face each other again.
At 6-11, Liberal had a slight lead ahead of Great Bend (5-11) and Bishop Carroll (5-13) for the fourth seed.
Even if Liberal slipped a spot, they would likely still face Great Bend in the first round of Sub-State.
Bishop Carroll only has two games remaining (Wichita West and Wichita Northwest) while the Redskins played Great Bend Saturday and will still face Garden City and Dodge City. The only way the Golden Eagles could pass the Redskins would be to win their final two games while the Redskins would lose all three remaining games.
If the Redskins win two out of three, they will secure the fourth seed but cannot improve to third because Maize South is locked with 13 wins.
Liberal will more than likely face either Great Bend or Bishop Carroll. If Liberal remains the fourth seed they will get to host the first-round game against either Great Bend or Bishop Carroll.
Liberal hosts Garden City Tuesday.
Great Bend 5-11
Wichita-Bishop Carroll 5-13
