SATANTA – Patricia Barrett Preedy, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit.
She was born Feb. 12, 1928, to Hugh and Elizabeth Boyer Barrett in Pawnee Rock.
She married J.W. “Bill” Preedy June 4, 1954. He died Jan. 6, 2009.
She graduated from Pawnee Rock in 1946 and then graduated from Emporia State Teachers College.
She taught school in St. John, Garden City, Copeland and Satanta.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She was a member of the Sunshine Club, Southwest Royalty Owners, Santee Club, Gideon Auxiliary, Haskell County Extension Board and a community leader of Cloverleaf 4-H Club.
She is survived by son, Gary and wife, Sherry, Meade; daughter, Nancy Doris and husband, Sig, Satanta; brother, Millard Barrett and wife, Pat; sister, Joann Baldwin, Wichita; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Audrey Barrett, Wichita.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, DeAnne Preedy, two brothers, Preston Barrett and Brian Barrett, and one sister, Martha Jane Barrett.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Satanta United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phil Fischer and the Rev. Kelvin Heitman presiding.
Friends may sign the register from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Haskell County Funeral Home.
