GUYMON, Okla. — Three Guymon Tigers scored in double-figures as the Tigers jumped to an early lead but overcame a late Hooker rally to down the Bulldogs 57-44 on Saturday night.
Guymon (9-11) led just 8-6 in the opening minutes of the game, but went on an 18-4 run to take a 26-10 lead at the half. Kassius Urquiza, Angel Vega and Carter Nash sparked the rally.
Hooker (5-15) outscored Guymon 19-11 in the third quarter behind Dakotah McBride, who scored a game-high 14 for the Bulldogs, including 10 points in one stretch of the third that saw Hooker pull to within 8 points.
Guymon got out of its slump in the fourth behind Vaga, Nash, Mason Legrange and Derek Portillo.
Legrange and Vega led the Tigers with 13 points each, Nash put in 11 and Kassius Urquiza 6.
In addition to McBride’s 14, John Godfrey scored 8 and Dayton Metcalf 8 for Hooker.
Guymon wraps up the regular season Tuesday night at home against Class 4A No. 7 Woodward, then heads to Piedmont on Feb. 28 for the Class 5A regional playoff.
Next up for Hooker is a trip to Merritt (just outside Elk City) for the 2A Area 1, District 5 championship. Both Hooker and Merritt received a bye for the first round.
