MEADE – Mary E. Harrison, 86, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Meade District Hospital in Meade.
She was born July 19, 1927, to Lorenzo Downs Gilmore and Verlie (Hill) Swanky Gilmore in Oklahoma City.
She married Jean Giessmann May 27, 1949.
She attended the College of the Ozarks and Friends Teaching College, receiving her teaching certificate. She was an elementary school teacher for many years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Beam Senior Center, and the Golden Notes.
She enjoyed music and produced “Stroll Down Broadway” for the Beam Senior Center.
She is survived by son, Brent Thurston Giessmann, Arlington, Mass.; two daughters, Brenda Giessmann Allred, Burley, Idaho, and Linda Giessman Standard, Meade; and four grandchildren, Blake Standard, Madison Giessmann, Kelle Allred and Jacob Giessmann
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian Gilmore Giessman; a brother, L.D. Gilmore, Jr.; two sisters, Vera Mae “Sis” Gilmore Wilborn and Myrtle Lorraine “Aunite Mike” Gilmore Sawhill; and a grandson, Brian Allred; .
• Celebration of life services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Meade, with the Rev. Gordon Paulsen presiding.
Cremation has taken place.
Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Memorials are suggested to the Beam Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
