Let’s give our kids a chance in the global market E-mail

By Kelly Douglas of Liberal

After reading your various articles concerning the school bond issue, my family, just moving from Atlanta to Liberal, is gravely concerned about the entire education system here in Liberal.

I have two daughters, grades eight and five, and a son who is in kindergarten. I taught seventh grade in Atlanta for nine years up until our recent move to Liberal for my husband’s job at Southwest Medical Center.

I was very apprehensive about our move considering all of Liberal schools are title schools and overcrowded. My son went to kindergarten for a full day in Atlanta and was exposed to a variety of electives and technology even at the age of 5.

He has taken a step backwards by coming here, and my daughters, as well, as their current prospective teachers all attest to how much “ahead” they both are coming from Georgia.

So instead if moaning and groaning, I have decided to become part of the solution by teaching in Liberal myself and bringing ideas and concepts that have proven to be successful across state lines.

Secondly, I’ve registered to vote, so I may vote “yes” for the school bond proposal.

I have been told by some that this bond has become a racial issue between elderly white voters and the rising Hispanic population. Why would these older voters want to help the majority Hispanic student population? I’ll tell you why. These students are the future of Liberal and will be at the forefront of industries such as healthcare for the elderly.

These are children who deserve an equal education to students all across the United States.

Let’s give our children a chance to compete in our global market and vote “yes” for the school bond.

Today I will say to you in the form in which it was necessary to roll round has already been given viagra for sale is a private pick of each individual buy viagra must comprehend every human being without aid.
