Matthew Hernandez scored a career-high 25 points and helped South build a 10-point lead early in the fourth quarter over Kenneth Henderson, but a late rally by the Falcons led to a 34-31 South loss.

The Apaches neutralized the height advantage of the Falcons with good ball movement, and once the Apaches penetrated the full court press, Hernandez was able to finish the possessions with lay-ups.

South continued to hold the lead in the second half, and built up to a 29-22 advantage before point guard John Aung fouled out. South struggled to get the ball across half court, and the Falcons hit two three-pointers, four free throws and four baskets to take a 34-31 lead.

South had a chance to ties the game late, but the Falcons stole the inbounds pass and ran out the clock.

Hernandez led the Apaches with 25 points.

South was scheduled to play Hugoton today, but the game has been postponed because of weather.
