County commissioner Doug LaFreniere shows off a couple of newly transplanted trout on Jan. 12 that were stocked by the state in Meade Lake on Dec. 27, 2013, to allow additional winter fishing at the lake. LaFreniere explained how he caught the fish. “Went to Meade lake yesterday and the lake was froze over,” he said. “Grabbed a tire iron and broke a hole in the ice by the boat dock and pulled three nice Rainbow Trout out of there. Just got to want it.” State officials remind anglers they must have a trout permit in addition to a state fishing license to take trout. Courtesy photo
