Dale E. Harper, 68, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at his residence in Liberal.
He was born April 4, 1945, to M.E. “Pug” and K. Joyce (Heitschmidt) Harper in Beaver, Okla..
He married Beverley June 6, 1966.
He then married Bobetta K. Benton Dec. 14, 1985, in Liberal. She survives.
He graduated from Liberal High School in 1963. He attended Indiana Tech for two years.
He worked as a wrecker driver for Burr’s Service and Hasty’s Towing. He was an officer for the Liberal Police Department, and he worked with the crime prevention program.
Other survivors include his mother; three sons, Stacy E. Harper, Manhattan, Bradley E. Harper, Manhattan, and Dustin L. Petrus and wife, Mekayla, Garden City; two daughters, Darla K. Harper, Liberal, and Faye Marie Zimmerman and husband, Nicholas, Liberal; and seven grandchildren, Kyla Harper, Charlie Berkel, Tayson, Aaliyah, and Baby Zimmerman and Keely and Kaia Petrus.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Dwayne and David Harper.
• Celebration of life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall with Pastor Arlen Ankle presiding.
A private family burial will be at a late date.
Cremation has taken.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Kansas Heart Association in care of the Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
