Stanley H. “Stan” Wilbers, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born July 11, 1933, to Joseph L. and Ida (Rudroff) Wilbers in Westphalia, Mo.
He married Helen L. Skinner Sept. 24, 1966, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives.
He graduated in 1951 from St. Joseph High School in Westphalia and in 1960 graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War from 1953 – 1955. He was an accountant for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. from 1960-1976, and then from 1976 to 1990, he was the vice-president of National Helium. In 1990, he became the finance director for the City of Liberal, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Early Risers Kiwanis, Focus on the Future, Liberal Bee Jays Board and the Seward County Community College Saints Booster Club.
Other survivors include one son, David Wilbers and wife, Christina, Russellville, Ark.; two sisters, Delores Bock, Kansas City, Mo., Arlene Wilbers Kansas City, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Bailey Wilbers and Brett Wilbers.
• Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Liberal Cemetery with Father Hector De La Vaga presiding.
Military honors will be given by the American Legion Post No. 80.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. today with the family present to receive guests at Brenneman Funeral Home. Casket will remain closed.
