Lady Buffaloes make finals; Lady Mustangs fall apart in second half

The Meade Lady Buffaloes made quick work of the Syracuse Lady Bulldogs in a 59-29 win to advance to Saturday's finals of the Hi-Plains League Tournament.
Meade jumped out to a 17-5 lead in the first quarter. Syracuse cut the lead back to single digits before half, but Meade still led, 27-18.
The Lady Buffs took back control of the game in the second half, outscoring Syracuse 32-11 to win by 30.
Meade (7-2) advances to Saturday's finals matchup with Cimarron at 6pm.
Cimarron 62, Southwestern Heights 26
After hanging close in the first half, the Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs were outscored 42-9 in the second half by Cimarron in a 62-26 loss.
Cimarron looked to be in control in the first quarter when they took a 16-9 lead over the Lady Mustangs.
Heights bounced back in the second quarter with some tough defense, holding the Lady Bluejays to just four, and cutting the halftime lead back to just three (20-17).
But any hopes of a Heights upset were quickly squashed in the second half. Cimarron outscored Heights 26-7 in the third and 16-2 in the fourth to win by 36.
Heights shot just 19 percent from the field, and 38 percent at the free throw line.
Jackie Loya finished with 7 points and 10 rebounds. Ivon Amparan had 7 points and five rebounds. Neyelly LaPoints scored 6 and grabbed 3 steals.
Heights (6-6) will face Syracuse Saturday at 3 pm for third place.
