Forgan’s Nikki Taylor scored 25 points, including five threes, but free throw shooting proved to be the achilles for the Lady Bulldogs in a 54-47 overtime loss to the Mooreland Lady Bearcats in the third place game of the Oil Center Classic.

The Lady Bulldogs made just 4 of 15 free throws, while Mooreland was 17 of 27 from the line.

Mooreland grabbed the early lead, going up 15-7 by the end of the first quarter. Forgan used stout defense to get back in the game with a 10-3 advantage in the second to cut Mooreland’s lead to just one at half (18-17).

Forgan still trailed by one heading into the fourth, but Taylor, who was named to the all-tournament team, hit a pair of threes that knotted the game and sent it to overtime.

Forgan (4-8) will take on Fargo-Gage at Gage Tuesday.
