In a back-and-forth game that saw eight lead changes and six ties, the Beaver Dusters used a big fourth quarter to pull away and defeat the Mooreland Bearcats 50-38, and earn a trip to the title game of the Oil Center Classic in Woodward.

A 14-4 run by the Bearcats that stretched across the two halves gave Mooreland their first lead since the first minute of the second quarter, 30-27, with less than two minutes left in the third quarter.

But the Dusters responded with a 12-0 run capped by Hadley Skaggs layup with 4:16 left in the fourth quarter that put Beaver up 39-30.

Mooreland twice had to call timeouts to try and stop the run, finally getting back on track. The Bearcats scored the next five to cut the lead back to four points with less than three minutes left.

Beaver again responded by ending the game on an 11-3, including making 5 of 6 free throws in the game’s final minute to seal the win.

The first quarter was a seesaw battle with three ties and four lead changes as the two teams traded baskets. Garrett Weber scored in the final minute to give the Dusters an 11-10 advantage heading into the second quarter.

Mooreland took the lead back (12-11), but Beaver went on an 8-0 run to go up 19-12 with three minutes left in the first half. Mooreland was able to cut the lead back to five (25-20) before the first half ended.

Garrett Weber led the Dusters with 16 points, including 8 in the all-important fourth quarter. Hadley Skaggs scored 10, and Jorge Rivera 9.

Beaver will take on Forgan for the third time this season, Saturday at 6:45, but this time for a tournament championship.
