It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. If Charles Dickenson ever wrote the script to a basketball game it was Turpin’s 49-43 win over the Canton Bulldogs on Day 2 of the Oil Center Classic at Woodward.
The Turpin Cardinals jumped out to a big lead, had a complete collapse in the third only to rally in the fourth to win.
A 12-4 advantage for the Bulldogs in the third quarter gave Canton a 34-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
But just when it seemed Canton had control Turpin turned it back on rallying in the fourth with an 18-9 advantage to win by six.
Turpin had looked to be in complete control early in the game taking a 19-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. But Canton outscored Turpin 15-8 in the second to cut the lead to just five at half, 27-22.
Jordon Lujan led the Cardinals with 20 points, and Kyler Musgrave added 9.
Turpin will take on Waynoka Saturday at 1:45 in the consolation game.
