Mary Amanda Betz, 90, died, Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 26, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Sabina (Burdett) Hawkins, in Ness City, Kan.
She married Merle Betz on July 14, 1941, in Ashland, Kan. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 2004.
She was raised in Ness City and graduated from Ness City High School.
She had been a resident of Liberal for the past 47 years. She was a homemaker.
Her suvivors include, two sons, Mike Betz, Wichita, Duart Betz and wife, Patricia Hutchinson; two daughters, Ann Bell and husband, Patrick, Liberal, Tonda Heckle and husband, C.C., Turpin, Okla.; three brothers, Van Hawkins, Silver Lake, Jack Hawkins, Silver Lake, Bill Hawkins, Wash.; two sisters, Sue Gramling, Paragould, Ark., Beth Stoecklein, Olathe; nine grandchildren, April Coker, Aaron Betz, Becky Betz, Jason Betz, Julie Hanner, Patrice Betz, Justin Bell, Cody Bell and Sabina Heckle; 15 great–grandchildren; and five great–great–grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; two sons, Gary and Scott Betz; one brother, Jerry Hawkins; one sister, Dee Guhr; and two grandchildren, Claresa and Melody Betz.
• Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City, Kan.
Burial will be in the Ness City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday all at Brenneman Funeral Home. The family present to greet friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Visitation time will also be at 1 p.m. Monday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City.
In lieu of Flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
