ELKHART – Maxine (Whisennand) Robebeaux, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Levelland, Texas.
She was born Jan. 7, 1939, the daughter of Earnest and Alice (Schnaufer) Whisennand, in Ajo, Ariz.
Maxine married Melvin Strothman in 1960. He preceded her in death.
She married Charles Robebeaux in February 1993. He also preceded her in death.
She grew up south of Elkhart on her family’s farm and graduated from Yarbrough High School.
She worked as a waitress, managed the Surrey Restaurant in Elkhart, and worked for the Elkhart Schools as a custodian and bus driver.
She moved to Ponca City, Okla., in 1989 where she lived until she moved to Levelland, Texas, in 2013.
Survivors include three daughters, Joan Sanders, Levelland, Texas, Patricia Woodward, Glendale, Ariz., and Andrea Robertson, Levelland, Texas; three brothers, Joe Whisennand, Jon Whisennand and Jack Whisennand, all of Elkhart; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Phyllis Whisennand; and one brother, Jim Whisennand.
• Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Elkhart.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Elkhart, Kan., with Father Frances Khoi Nguyen presiding.
Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
