The Mustangs and Lady Mustangs cruised to victories Tuesday against Satanta.
SWH BOYS 52, SATANTA 23
Nathan Johnsrud scored 14 points including two three-pointers to lead the Mustangs to a 52-23 win over the Indians.
The tenacious Heights defense never allowed a double digit quarter in the game.
The Mustangs were able to score often before easing up in the fourth quarter.
Heights jumped out to a 14-5 lead in the first quarter and by halftime the rout was on with a 31-9 Mustang lead.
By the start of the fourth quarter, the Mustangs extended the lead to 44-17.
Scott Holmes scored nine to go along with Johnsrud’s 14, and Jorge Dela Torre added eight.
The Mustangs (3-2) will host Syracuse Thursday.
SWH GIRLS 54, SATANTA 36
Nayelly LaPoint only shot two three-pointers Tuesday, but she made them both to go along with six two-pointers, and the Lady Mustangs ran over the Satanta Lady Indians, 54-36.
Jackie Loya scored six points, but she gave her team second chances with six offensive rebounds. She also limited the Lady Indians on the defensive end by grabbing seven defensive rebounds for a game total of 13.
Heights also forced 20 turnovers.
Ivon Amparan scored double figures with 10 points, and Celia Chavez added eight.
A strong first half was the key for the Lady Mustangs.
Heights jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter and extended to 31-17 at half.
The Lady Indians outscored Heights 11-10 in the third, but the Lady Mustangs finished by winning the fourth quarter 13-8 for the 54-36 final.
The Lady Mustangs (3-2) will host Syracuse Thursday.
