FORGAN-Maybe the opening tip was the first indication of how this game was going to go when Waynoka’s jumper never left the floor.
He never had a chance, and neither did Waynoka as Forgan ran away with another district title, 64-22.
“It was a really, really good defensive performance,” said Bulldog coach Todd Kerr. “Offensively I though we were really good too in the first half, but everything we do is based on how we defend and rebound, and we were really good at those two things tonight and it created opportunities.”
Ryan and Rhett Radcliff were a nightmare on defense, combining for eight steals, most out in the open court. Forgan’s workhorses in the paint, Tanner Jones, Tyler McReynolds, and Tayler Eagan, did their part by not allowing Waynoka an offensive rebound until three minutes remained in the third quarter.
The Radcliffs were also a terror on the offensive end, scoring 13 of Forgan’s first 15 points as the Bulldogs sprinted out to leads of 9-0 and 17-2.
Jake Regier came of the bench and went on a tear scoring 13 points in a five minute stretch to spark an 21-4 run that pushed the Forgan lead to 40-11 with 2:34 left in the first half.
A 15-4 run to start the second half buried any hopes of a miracle comeback and increased Forgan’s lead to 42(60-18), the largest of the night.
Rhett Radcliff finished the game with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and three steals. Ryan Radcliff added 13 points, 6 rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Jake Regier also tallied 13 points.
Tayler Eagan led the Bulldogs with 15 boards including 8 at the offensive end, and added 7 points. Tyler McReynolds grabbed 8 rebounds and scored 6, while Tanner Jones scored 6, and grabbed four boards.
Forgan improves to 23-1 and will host Boise City, Thursday at 8 p.m. in the first round of regionals.
