TYRONE, Okla. - The Tyrone Bobcats made quick work of an overmatched and undermanned Hardesty Bison team. After a 2-2 start, Tyrone went on a 30-0 run on their way to a 68-10 win.
Hardesty is down to just six players, and played Thursday evening's game with just five, which made it tough for the Bobcats to get the work in their starters needed.
"In these kind of games you try to find things you need to work on," Bobcats coach Clay Witt said. "We worked a little on our zone offense, and we still need to work on it some more."
Leading 32-3 after one quarter, Tyrone outscored the Bison 16-2 in the second quarter to go up 48-4 at half. Tyrone led 62-8 heading into the fourth.
Eleven different Bobcat players were able to get on the scoresheet, including Lane Olivas whose teammates worked hard to get him the ball for an open shot.
Ethan Reece was the top Bobcat scorer with 14, including a pair of threes. Nerlin Rivera added 12 points, and Tanner Hurst scored 11.
Tyrone advances to the semifinals of the High Plains Tournament where they will face the Goodwell Eagles who defeated the Balko Bison, 49-43.
