Lady Dusters advance with win over Moscow

The Beaver Lady Dusters picked up a tough win in the first round of the Rolla Showcase, defeating the Moscow Lady Wildcats 38-36.

At tight game throughout, Beaver grabbed a 9-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, and still led by two at half (17-15).

Moscow had a 12-10 advantage in the third to knot the game at 27 heading into the fourth.

Jacinda Balderrama came alive in the fourth to score 8 of the Lady Dusters 11 fourth quarter points, and held the Lady Dusters pull out the win.

Jacinda Balderrama led the Lady Dusters scoring with 12; Brianna Hoover added 11, and Averi Lansden scored 8.

Beaver advances to the semifinals where they will face Syracuse, who defeated Elkhart 50-34, today at 5 p.m.

Dusters crush Greeley County

A big first quarter by Beaver put the Dusters in complete control early as they cruised to a 61-28 win over Greeley County in the first round of the Rolla Showcase Tournament.

Beaver controlled the game from the opening tip, outscoring Greeley County 20-4 in the first quarter.

Beaver added just one to their lead by half, but still held a commanding 32-15 lead. By the end of the third the lead was 32 (42-10).

Garrett Weber led the Dusters in scoring with 20 points; Jorge Rivera scored 13, including 8 in the first quarter. Hadley Skaggs added 8 and Chayce Davidson scored all 7 of his points in the fourth quarter.

Beaver advances to the semifinals today at 6:30 where they will face Syracuse, who defeated tournament host Rolla in their first round game, 61-23.
