Obituary

ULYSSES – Darlene (Fischer) Lucero, 55, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

She was born Nov. 12, 1958, to Milton “Mike” and Joan (Huber) Fischer in Ulysses.

She married Jerry Stevens.

She then married Max Lucero in Garden City. He survives.

She gradated valedictorian of her class in Grove, Okla.

She worked for more than 20 years at the post office as a mail carrier, in the warehouse and at the front counter.

She was an accomplished pianist and shared her talent at the Faith Fellowship Church where she attended and also taught Sunday school classes.

She is also survived by her mother; sons, Ryan Stevens, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Shelby Stevens, Ulysses; brother, Steve Fischer, Park Hill, Okla.; sister, Karen Young, Park Hill; and granddaughter, Devyn Michelle Stevens.

She was preceded in death by her father.

• Funeral service was at 1 p.m. today at the Oasis Church in Ulysses, with John Duran presiding.

Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS  67880.
