With 30 seconds left in overtime and the game tied at 38 Tyrone got an open look at the basket but could not get the shot to go down. Boise City then got their opportunity, and hit the game winner with three seconds left to win, 40-38.
“It was a good game,” Lady Bobcats coach Clay Witt said. “We struggled all game long to hit our outside shot, which can happen on the road. They just made one more than us.”
Tori Dumler, who has led the Lady Bobcats scoring early in the season was held to 10 points, and fouled out in overtime. Boise City also lost one of their top shooters in overtime.
Although it was a close game throughout, Tyrone had trailed almost the entire game. Boise City led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, and was up by three at half. Tyrone cut the lead back to one by the end of the third, and outscored the Lady Wildcats by one in the fourth to force overtime.
Rayna Wall gave the Lady Bobcats and post presence, leading Tyrone in scoring with 17.
“Rayna did a great job and we had our post game going, but so did they, matching us bucket for bucket, Witt said.”
Tyrone (2-2) will host Felt, Thursday at 6 p.m. in the first round of the High Plains Tournament.
