The seventh grade West Warriors A and B teams used strong first halves to create distance between themselves and the Kenneth Henderson Falcons Thursday evening to earn a pair of victories.
The A team led from start to finish to win 27-13, while the B team was just as impressive in a 23-14 win, also leading the entire game.
Whitney Hay and Ash-Leigh Antrim had another pair of strong performances in leading the A team to their win.
The Warriors A team defense controlled the game throughout, using a full-court press to stifle the Falcon offense.
After the first quarter of play, West led 6-2.
The Warriors duplicated their performance from the first quarter, and led 12-4 at the half, led by Antrim’s six points.
West continued to pressure Kenneth Henderson throughout the second half, finishing just as impressively as they started to win 27-13.
Hay had a game-high 10 points, and Antrim finished with eight. Katiara Polvon scored five points in the win, and both Kaylee Adams and Kimberley Alarcon had two for the Warriors.
The Warriors B team came out aggressive on both ends of the floor to start their game, scoring 10 points in the first quarter, while holding the Falcons offense to just two points in the first half.
Polvon dominated throughout the game, scoring 13 points, seven of which came in the first half.
Leading 14-2 at the half, West came out of the locker room maintaining their aggressiveness from the first half.
West had a 19-8 lead after three, and kept the Kenneth Henderson at bay in the fourth to get the 23-14 win.
The Warriors got to the line 16 times in the game, although they could only produce five points from the charity stripe.
Alondra Ochoa finished with six points, and Lalia Garcia had three.
