Roy Snook, 83, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at his home in Hooker.
He was born Feb. 19, 1930, the son of Wilburn H. and Mary Martha McCool Snook, in Milroy, Pennsylvania.
He was united in marriage to Karen Laverne Christie on March 25, 1994, and they made their home in Hooker.
He attended school in the area.
He was proud to serve his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he worked in the oil and gas industry on the pipeline moving from state to state. He had been in Hooker for 45 years. In his later years, he worked as a diesel truck mechanic for numerous companies in the area. He had a strong determination to always be working.
He was a loving, caring and generous man who would gladly give you the shirt off of his back. He was an avid arrowhead hunter and loved making beautiful art work from his collection of arrowheads. He spent hours of enjoyment working on his woodworking projects. He did many home improvement projects on the family home. He enjoyed going to casinos, playing bingo and watching birds.
Survivors include, his wife, Karen Snook, of the home; his daughter, Rhonda Hawkins (Shawn); his son, Randy Snook (Dixie); four step children, Jimmy Chavedo, Gayla Miller, Tony Chavedo and Sharon Patterson; two brothers, Jim Snook, John Snook; six sisters, Elizabeth Eileen Noll, Linda Gail Miller, Martha Jane Fultz, Helen Kay Wagoner, June Arlene Moore, Jean Madelyn Kennet; grandchildren, Misty Burnett, Makenzie Hawkins, Dameon Snook, Sonny Snook, Zane Snook (Terressa); great grandchildren, Ashley Morello, Aaron Morello, Bronze Snook, Braz Snook, Paul Snook, Taylor Snook; great great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Hodges; 10 step-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur H and Mary Martha Snook; his brothers and sisters, Iris Louise Snook, Wilbur H Snook, Jr., Richard Snook, Evelyn Snook, Sarah Pauline Damicantonio, Elma Grace Wagoner, Mary Florence Gibbony; two grandchildren, Dalton Hawkins and Kody Snook; two step-children, Debra Hanks and Joe Chavedo.
