The Saints tried to hit a three pointer in the second half.

They tried 11 times.

None of them fell.

With no perimeter shots falling, Pratt worked to defend Seward’s inside game and held the Saints to 37 percent shooting and upset Seward in the Big House 76-67.

While the Saints couldn’t buy a three pointer in the second half, Pratt connected on five of them, and each time after Seward had whittled down the Beaver lead.

The Saints made a run in the second half after trailing by 14.

Robert Sigala hit two free throws, and Jon Tassin followed with five straight points to cut the gap to 57-50 with nine minutes to play.

But a Trae Beck three pointer and a Tyrone Gordon free throw stretched the lead back to 11 and killed the Seward momentum.

The Saints went another another run in the final three minutes and cut the lead to four, 69-65, but the Saints struggled at the free throw down the stretch only hitting five of 13 in the final five minutes. Pratt was able to protect its lead at the free throw line by hitting  11 of 16 free throws in the final four minutes.

Latiq Agard scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for a double double, and Marcus James had 10.

The loss dropped Seward to 19-7 overall, 8-4 in conference play.

The Saints were able to remain third, a half game ahead of Pratt. The Saints are one game behind second-place Hutchinson and two games behind Butler. Seward travels to Cloud Saturday.
