The West Warriors hosted the Kenneth Henderson Falcons Monday afternoon, and despite their best efforts, both the A and B teams for West could not find a way to get the win.
Coming off of their biggest win of the year, a 31-point blowout over Dodge City, the A team could not find a rhythm Monday evening in a 33-19 loss to the Falcons.
Kenneth Henderson jumped out to an early lead in the game, and found themselves with a seven point cushion at the end of the first quarter with the score 12-5.
West found a bit more production on the offensive end in the second, but couldn’t gain any ground, and trailed the Falcons by eight at the half, 20-12.
The second half got off to an ugly start for both teams. The Warriors stopped the Kenneth Henderson offense, but were unable to get any of their own. West held the Falcons to four points in the quarter, but were only able to score two points themselves.
Up 24-14 to start the final quarter, Kenneth Henderson kept the Warriors from inching closer, and closed the game out to take a 33-19 win on West’s home court.
Ali Lucero had a stellar performance in the loss, scoring 14 points for the Warriors.
In the B team’s game, West struggled mightily to stay close.
While they allowed only five points in the first quarter, the only scored one of their own.
In the second quarter the Warriors fought their way back into the game, and found themselves down 7-5 heading into the locker room at halftime.
Coming out of the locker room, things quickly fell apart for West. The Warriors put one point on the board in the third quarter, and could not score in the fourth, as the Falcons outscored West 21-1 in the second half, and ran away with the 28-6 victory.
