JOHNSON – Wilma N. Winger, 89, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Feb. 21, 1924, to William Thompson and Mary Adriane (Kane) Jones in rural Brewster.
She married Frederick Dale Winger Dec. 25, 1941, in Johnson. He died May 4, 1948.
She was a graduate of Johnson High School and was the valedictorian for the Class of 1942.
She worked for the Stanton County and Finney County ASCS from 1963-1993.
She was a member of Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church, Johnson. She taught Sunday school for 50 years and served as the treasurer at the Big Bow and Garden City Wesleyan Church.
She was a 4-H sewing leader and was a member of the Pleasant Hour Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ricker and husband, Nelson, Walsh, Colo., and Margaret Hook and husband, Calvin, Syracuse; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, F. Kent Winger, one sister; Mary Margaret Dimitt Wilkerson, one grandson, Marlin Dale Ricker, and one great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Ricker.
o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church, Johnson.
Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson.
