STERLING – Roberta S. Drake, 85, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013.
She was born Feb. 18, 1928, to Frank and Eunice Stout in rural Raymond.
She married Richard Drake Nov. 24, 1946, in Alden. He survives.
She graduated from Alden High School in 1945; received her bachelor’s degree from Sterling College in 1974; and her master’s degree from K-State in 1977.
She was a former English teacher at Liberal High School, a substitute teacher in Lincoln, Neb., and alumni director for Sterling College.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alden.
Other survivors include three sons, Richard Drk Jr. and wife, Kathleen Schroeder, Canton, Rodney Drake, Hutchinson, and Robert Michael Drake, Redwing, Minn.; five daughters, Rosemary and Larry Yates, Sterling, Radonna Drake and Rick Figger, Brentwood, Tenn., Richelle and Bob Miller, Wachapreague, Va., Robin Drake Woods and Tyler McVay, Sterling, and Ramona Drake, Peabody; one brother, Gene Stout, Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Doris Caywood, Raymond, and Leroy Kittleton, Langdon; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Clifford, Ralph, William, Roland, Don and Richard Stout; and three sisters, Alma Cole, Orabelle Smith and Rosalie Nunemaker.
• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Alden, with Matt Hendricks presiding.
A private family committal service will take place at the Peace Valley Cemetery prior to the funeral service.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Birzer Funeral Home in Sterling.
