Charles William Brownlee, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Sept. 20, 1938, to James and Norma (Moore) Brownlee in Buffalo, Mo.

He married Evelyn Hockett June 20, 1958, in Satanta. She survives.

He graduated from Satanta High School in 1956 and received his bachelors of science degree from Emporia State University and a masters in physics from the University of Wyoming.

He was retired from Seward County Community College after 30 years as a math, science, and physics instructor.

He was a member of the Satanta United Methodist Church, Liberal Kids Inc, and Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the SCCC Athletics Booster Club and was inducted into the Seward County Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in April of 2013.

He enjoyed his spending time with his grandkids, and doing woodworking, stamp collecting and Seward County College sports.

Other survivors include his mother; three sons, Glenn Brownlee and wife, Kim, Texarkana, Texas, Garry Brownlee and wife Susan, Mulvane, and Gregg Brownlee and Getana, Canyon City, Ore.; three brothers, James Brownlee, Murdock, Mike Brownlee and wife, Mary, Baton Rouge, La., and Robert Brownlee and wife Esther, Baton Rouge; three sisters, Charlotte Hagaman and husband, Lynn, Hillsboro, Barbara Brookshire and husband Larry, Hoxie, and Terrie Romero and husband, Russell, New Iberia, La.; and five grandchildren, Loren and Kyle Brownlee, Canyon City,  Joshua and Sally Brownlee, Mulvane, and Hannah Brownlee, Texarkana.

He was preceded in death by his father and his granddaughter, Margaruite Ray Brownlee.

• Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Satanta United Methodist Church with Pastor Kelvin Heitmann presiding.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal with the family present to greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the SCCC/ATS Foundation for the Brownlee Science and Math Endowment Fund in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
