LARNED—The Hugoton Eagles put up points in the opening and closing quarters, but failed to score anything in between Friday night as they fell to Larned/Pawnee Heights, 35-14.

Larned struck quickly, reaching the endzone on a 65-yard pass play to take a 7-0 lead.

Two minutes later, they found themselves back in the endzone on another touchdown pass and were up 14-0.

The Eagles answered on the insuing kickoff when Ulises Armendariz returned the kick for a touchdown to cut the lead to 14-8.

Neither team could find a way to score in the second quarter, and the teams were locked in a tight battle heading into halftime.

About eight minutes into the second half Larned was able to find paydirt again, this time scoring on a 62-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 21-8.

Larned put the game away early in the fourth quarter, scoring twice in the first five minutes of the quarter to make it a 35-8 ball game.

Hugoton was able to add a touchdown with about five minutes remaining, but could not overcome the deficit, and fell 35-14.

The Eagles are now 5-3 on the year, and has a 2-2 record in Great West Conference play.

Thursday Hugoton will host Ulysses (7-1) to finish out the regular season.
