Some nights it just all comes together. For the Forgan Lady Bulldogs it was Friday night as they rolled to a 60-20 win and a Panhandle 6 Conference championship.

Dominant in every phase of the game, Forgan’s four top scorers included two post players with 23 points in the paint, two guards who were 7-of-11 from three point range, and the defense forced 24 turnovers and allowed only one field goal in each of the two first quarters.

“I thought that was one of our better defensive games,” said Forgan coach Brett Trippet. “We were really all over the place. I thought the kids really moved and communicated well together. Our defense just really made everything happen. You play good defense a lot of good things always end up happening.”

After each team only scored two points in the first six minutes, Jaci McGill got the Lady Bulldogs offense going with three threes to give Forgan an 11-2 lead.

Texhoma’s Brittany Beattie drained one from beyond the arc to make the score 12-5 with 6:11 to play in the first half.

It would be the Lady Devils final points of the half and last made field goal over the next eleven minutes.

“Forgan was better than us in every aspect of the game tonight,” said Texhoma coach David Rosenberg. “Sometimes our youth gets caught up in atmosphere. We came out with energy, but they took it away.”

Samantha Leisher hit her second of three three’s at the halftime buzzer to give the Lady Bulldogs a 28-5 lead. Forgan extended that lead to 42-7 with just over four minutes left in the third.

Forgan was led on offense by Jaci McGill, who was 4-of-4 from three-point land and finished with 16 points. Kenzi Taylor was 5-of-9 in the paint and added 12, Lindsey Trippet was 5 of 8 for 11, and Samantha Leiser also had 11.

Texhoma’s top scorer was Makayla Rodriguez with 5.

Forgan finishes the regular season 20-2, and will host Waynoka next Thursday at 8 p.m. in the first round of district playoffs.
