Luciano Hidalgo, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at his home in San Francisco de Conchos, Chihuahua, Mexico.
He was born Jan. 7, 1932, to Cristobal and Paulina (Portillo) Hidalgo, in San Francisco de Conchos.
He married Maria Esther Saenz Dec. 31, 1959, in San Francisco de Conchos.
He spent his entire life working in Agriculture.
He brought his family to the United States in 1975, and spent many years in Liberal working at National Beef Packing Company.
After saving enough money, he and Esther returned to San Francisco de Conchos in 1991, where he grew pecan trees, raised alfalfa, and fulfilled his dream of operating his own farm.
He was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Esther Hidalgo, of the home; two sons, Jesus (Jeannie) Hidalgo, Dumas, Texas, and Martin (Brenda) Hidalgo, Liberal; three daughters, Maria (Tony) Whisenant, Liberal, Reina Hidalgo, Wichita, and Irma Lomas, Wichita; two brothers, Tomas Hidalgo, Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Lorenzo Hidalgo, Indio, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Genaro Hidalgo; and one sister, Julia Hidalgo.
• Funeral mass was at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Catholic Chapel.
Burial was at 1 p.m. Monday, in the San Francisco de Conchos Cemetery.
