In a battle of teams that had tough seasons, West’s eighth graders were able to end their year with a victory over South in the annual cross-town clash, 26-0.
West was able to hold the Apaches to a three-and-out on the first drive of the game, and after a punt, West drove 56 yards for the first touchdown of the game.
After South had a drive with five straight penalties that backed them up to their own eight yard line, West took the punt at the Apache 37 yard line and scored three plays later for a 14-0 lead.
West added two more scores while the Apaches could not put together a sustained drive in the loss.
Both squads will combine next season to form the Liberal high School freshmen team.
