S.P.I.R.I.T., Southwest Passage for Rural and Interstate Transportation, is proud to announce that the city of Pratt will be the host for the 18th annual S.P.I.R.I.T. conference Nov. 7 and 8 at Pratt Community College.
On Thursday evening, there will be a reception starting at 6:30 p.m. This will be a terrific time to attend and meet a large number of people from the four states, enjoy good food and drink and listen to some great entertainment.
There will also be a van ride to let you see the construction underway on the highway between Pratt and Kingman and listen to an engineer explain all the details involved.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, there will be welcomes from city, county, state and federal officials. This will be followed by panel discussions featuring prominent transportation individuals, including truckers and others who actually travel this High Priority Corridor on the Federal Highway System, plus presentations by featured speakers.
State legislators and department of transportation officials will be on hand to visit about the progress and plans for improvement of U.S. Highway 54 in the four states: Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.
The cost to attend this event is only $50 per person, plus the Pratt Comfort Suites is giving a special rate of $89.99 per night for those people attending this conference, and the Holiday Inn Express has a special rate of $109 per night.
Thanks to the committee in Pratt. The food at the reception, the continental breakfast on Friday and then the noon meal is all being arranged by this committee and sponsored by various businesses and organizations in Pratt.
If you wonder who should attend this conference, it should be city officials, county officials, economic development directors, chamber of commerce members, state and federal legislators, trucking officials and all citizens interested in safe, efficient highways.
