The Tyrone Bobcats dominated the first half of Friday night’s game with the Kremlin-Hillsdale Broncs, and had to fight to keep the lead in the second half, but came away with the 52-36 victory in Tyrone.

Tyrone’s offense was clicking on all cylinders, and the defense gave the Broncs fits throughout the first half.

“We came out playing really well,” Bell said. “We were feeling pretty good, and then we let them back in it.”

The Bobcats took a 30-12 lead into the half.

“Our defense played really well in the first half,” Tyrone coach Josh Bell said. “Our schemes were working really well.”

Kremlin-Hillsdale fought back to within six at 36-30 in the third quarter.

“We’re so young,” Bell said. “We had to face some adversity in the third quarter when they got back in it.”

The Bobcat defense responded by getting a safety to make it a 38-30 game at that point, and Tyrone held on the rest of the way for the win.

“We got really nervous for a little bit,” Bell said. “I’m really proud at how this team responded.”

Freshman quarterback Tanner Hearst, making only his third start, had a nice game for the Bobcats, scoring a couple of touchdowns.

“”He is really starting to develop,” Bell said. “He will be something special to watch in a few years.”

The win is the second on the year for Tyrone, and puts their record at 2-3.

“We needed this win to get us going,” Bell said. “We feel like we can compete.”

Tyrone will be looking for their third win when they take on the Boise City Wildcats Thursday night.
