“Science has come to a standstill” shouted the headline at The Huffington Post website Tuesday after the federal government went into a partial shutdown.

Does that mean there is no  longer gravity, molecules no longer coalesce and the Earth has spun off its axis?

The hysteria coming from the left and its stooges, the lame stream media, is astounding. None of the major networks or newspapers have explained to the public, since President Gerald Ford, there have been 18 government shutdowns.

The world did not end.

But now, all of a sudden, Senate President Harry Reid is calling the Tea-Party supported GOP members of the House, “the banana Republicans.’ U.S. Rep. George Miller (D-CA) called Republicans jihadists Wednesday.

The world is ending now – the leftists and their president, Obama, is telling them so. And lying to all the rest of us while they’re at it.

Thursday morning, National Public Radio interviewed the head of the National Institutes of Health. All clinical medical trials are on hold, so “children and adults will die because of this.”

In reality, if anyone dies, the blood will be on the hands of Obama, for only he can allot – by law – federal resources to “essential services.” He could give them the money if he wanted to.

But Obama and his leftist buddies controlling the Senate have vowed to inflict as much pain on the American people as they can in order to score political points.

“We will not negotiate!” they proudly scream.

Do all these vile warnings sound familiar? As Yogi Berra would say, “It's like deja-vu, all over again.”

Remember just a few months back when the world was going to come to a standstill when the sequester kicked in? The automatic sequester plan Obama presented and agreed to at the last deficit ceiling squabble?

Here are some items reported by www.buzzfeed.com in May 2013.

Obama said small businesses would lose $920 million in loans.

A lie.

According to the Associated Press, Small Business Administration head Karen Mills has said, “We are not slowing down giving loans to anyone.”

Obama said the TSA would have to reduce its workforce which would cause longer lines at airport security.

A lie.

Deputy administrator of the TSA, John Halinski, told the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that the agency would be able to avoid furloughing employees and doesn’t anticipate any reason to do so in the future.

Obama said in a March 1 press conference FBI agents would be furloughed.

A lie.

In April, Eric Holder added in a memo to Justice Department employees that he was able to avoid all Justice Department furloughs in this fiscal year.

Obama said in March the Capitol janitors and security guards “just got a pay cut.”

A lie.

According to CBS News, “Right after the president spoke back in March, the superintendent of the U.S. Capitol Building and the Capitol Visitors Center, Carlos Elias, was forced to email his employees to tell them it was not true.”

Obama said, “Federal prosecutors will have to close cases and let criminals go.”

A lie.

The Bureau of Prisons was able to avoid furloughs on workers, and a Bureau of Prisons spokesman told The New York Times that the agency would not be letting anyone go due to sequester cuts.

I see a pattern here, even if leftists’ eyes are swollen shut with idolatry. The pattern is lie to the American people for political gain – ignoring what’s in the best interest of a bankrupt country.

It’s all about Obama’s agenda and his agenda alone that matters.

The sky is not falling.

Perhaps Yogi might add, “If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.”
