PLAINS – Gregg Knott, 84, died Sept. 24, 2013, at the Meade District Hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1929, the son of Joseph Verl and Helena (Speake) Knott. He married his highschool sweetheart, Edna Mae Kisner. He married Joyce (Vail) Weihe, Sept. 10, 1973, in Plains. She survives. He graduated from Plains High School in 1947. He spent two years in the United States Army and served a European tour of duty during the Korean War. His livelihood was as a farmer and carpenter building many homes in the Plains area. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign War, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends, sons, daughter and grandsons. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He valued his travels to local and destination casinos with his friends perfecting his Keno skills. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Mae; his parents; daughter, Tara Elaine; five brothers, Donald “Dude,” Eugene, Lloyd “Shorty,” John “Jack,” and James “J.D.” Survivors include his children, Blaine (Melissa), Wichita, Kerry (Lynne), Leawood, Melodie (Danny), Aurora, Colo. and Aven (Susan), Geneva, Ill.; brother, Richard, Plains; 22 grandchildren; Bailey, Jeffrey, Keaton, Mallory, Russell, Robbie, Anna, Tara, Kelli, Riley, Alison, Aaron, Max, Genevieve, Alex, Andrew, Emily, Brady, David Roger, Kirsten, Katherine and Tommy; and four great-grandsons, Aaron, Alex, Caden and Cody. • Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Plains Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
