In every way the Lady Saints could have found themselves in trouble Monday against Hutchinson, they found it.

From foul trouble, shooting woes and rebounded problems, the Lady Saints struggled and dropped their first conference game of the season, 67-55 to the Lady Blue Dragons.

The problems started early when Rachel Barnes and Nadia Rosario saw limited time in the first half due to foul trouble.

With the muscle of Seward’s line-up sidelined, Hutchinson took advantage on the glass to take a 27-25 halftime lead.

Neither team shot the ball well in the first half (Seward shot 28 percent, Hutchinson shot 31 percent), but the Lady Blue Dragons heated up in the second half while the Lady Saints remained cold. Seward only shot 24 percent in the second half to Hutch’s 56 percent.

Barnes was limited to 10 points. Rosario was also held to 10 points and fouled out.

Vaneza Junior led the Lady Saints with 14 points in the loss.

The Lady Saints still hold a one-game lead over the Lady Blue Dragons in the Jayhawk West and will host Barton County at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Green House.
