Donald Dean “Don” Michaelis, 75, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at his residence in Liberal, Kansas.
He was born Sept. 26, 1937, the Son of Walter William and Rachel Caroline (Keil) Michaelis, in Russell.
He married Donna Lee Pittser Jan. 10, 1960,  in Hays.
He attended school in Russell and earned his GED while serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1961.  He served 18 months in Germany and France.
He worked for several area builders, in the construction business as a carpenter. 
He was a former member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. 
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf and gardening.  He loved spending time with family, fishing with his girls and grandkids.
Survivors include four daughters, Dinah Plummer and husband, Jim, Liberal, Dianna Norton, Liberal, Deanna Dye and husband, Shane, Forgan, Okla., Dora Dye and husband, Shawn, Hutchinson; one brother,    Larry Michaelis and wife, Marilyn, Lyons; three sisters, Shirley Roth and husband, Don,    Pahrump, Nev., Deloris Hanhardt and husband, Kenneth, Bison, Elaine Paulson, Salina; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and companion, Betty McCart.   
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William “Bill” and Vernard Michaelis; and three sisters, Sharon Mitchel, Pat Dumler and Melba Khun.
• Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andrew Wehling presiding. 
Burial will be in the Restlawn Cemetery, Liberal. 
Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
