ULYSSES – Lazaro Aguirre E., 77, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born Dec. 17, 1935, to Aniseto and Dolores (Esparza) Aguirre, in Julimes County, Chihuahua, Mexico.
He was a farmer who grew up in Mexico.
He married Socorro Meza, Oct. 28, 1959, in Mexico.
He loved working and baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Socorro of the home; children, Carlos Aguirre, Woodward, Okla., Lazaro Aguirre, Jr., Woodward, Okla., Rita Alvarado, Ulysses, Patricia Rojas, Woodward, Okla, Marla Chaparro, Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Otilia Ochoa, Chihuahua, Mexico, Santos Aguirre E., Arizona; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Juan Jose Aguirre E; daughter, Juana Aguirre; and sister, Catalina Carrasco.
• Rosary and vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kan., with Rev. Peter Fernandez presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
