ULYSSES – Floadene Hertel, 89, died on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at The Legacy at Park View, Ulysses.
She was born Jan. 12, 1924, to Henry H. and Hazel Belle (Schamaun), in Hanston, Kan.
She graduated from Hanston High School in 1941 and graduated from Dodge City Junior College in 1944.
She worked for Fairmont Creamery Company for two years as a bookkeeper.
She was employed at Walsh Food Market. She later worked at Ralsamore Coffee Shop until 1954. She was then employed at Ulysses Coop Oil & Supply for 32 years and retired in 1986.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She loved animals. She enjoyed playing golf, fishing, working in the yard and watching KU basketball. She was on a bowling team and an excellent bowler.
She is survived by her adopted family, Victor and Toney Hernandez, Ulysses; many cousins; and a host of many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Gladys Hertel Meier.
• Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ulysses Cemetery with Delbert Whaley presiding.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Grant County Funeral Home.
