At about 6:35 p.m. Thursday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 2500 block of North Western for a report of a person that was struck by a vehicle, according to a press release from Capt. Patrick McClurg of the Liberal Police Department.
The dispatcher notified responding units that the vehicle had fled the scene.
Upon arrival, investigating officers learned that three male teens were crossing Western Avenue. As the three crossed, a dark green passenger car struck one of the boys as the car was traveling south.
The vehicle continued south on Western Avenue after hitting the boy. The boy’s two friends carried him to a residence where they called for help.
Seward County EMS transported the 15 year old to Southwest Medical Center for treatment. His injuries did not appear life threatening.
Witnesses could only describe the vehicle as a small, dark green four door passenger car. No other distinguishing information is available.
The front passenger side of the vehicle struck the boy, and it may have sustained some damage.
