George Richard Alexander, Jr., age 94, died June 22, 2013 at Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal, KS.
He was born June 18, 1919, in Wilson, AR, to George Richard and Lony Appe (Lawrence) Alexander, Sr.
He married Helen M. Ingle Williams at Cannon AFB, Clovis, N.M. on December 21st, 1988. She died October 25, 2009.
He attended Mt. Healthy High School in Mt. Healthy, Ohio.
He served in the Army Air Corp in 1941. He was veteran of WWII, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War. He retired from military service in 1965.
He was a member of American Legion Post No.137 in Hooker, Okla. and Lane Day VFW Post No. 3166 in Liberal. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tyrone, Okla.
Survivors include one step-son, Tommy Williams, Liberal; one step-daughter, Connie Schwartz and husband Chan, Alliance, Neb.; one Brother, Jack Alexander and wife Margot, Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Gladys Stern, Cincinnati, Ohio; and one granddaughter Carla Beem and husband Tim. He is survived by many of his Bingo Player friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Clint Travis Alexander and Gene Charles Alexander, three sisters Martha Alley, Louella Nelson and Kathleen Defrance and one grandson Dion Schwartz.
• Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Thursday at Liberal Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Damron, Evangelical Friends Church, presiding.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
