Another stooge in the Obama Administration went before Congress Thursday – FBI Director Robert Mueller, who is supposedly the country’s top investigator. He proved to be either as incompetent, or a bigger liar, than Attorney General Eric Holder, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew, IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman, IRS director of Exempt Organizations Lois Lerner – and the list goes on and on.
Mueller, as many news reports noted Thursday, “seemed to be in the dark” when asked details of the so-called IRS investigation into the tax agency’s targeting of Tea Party and conservative groups.
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio was asking Mueller questions about the investigation, but Mueller kept repeating he couldn’t answer because the investigation was ongoing – or he’d have to get back to Jordan and the committee with specific answers.
When Jordan asked again,” Can you tell me who the lead investigator is?”
Mueller responded, “Off the top of my head, no.”
“You’ve had a month now to investigate,” Jordan said. “This has been the biggest story in the country and you can’t even tell me who the lead investigator is. You can’t tell me the actions the inspector general took which are not typically how investigations are done. You can’t tell me if that’s appropriate or not. This is not speculation. This is what happened.”
Holder has lied at least three times before Congress – from the Fast and Furious scandal to tapping journalists’ phone records to the IRS misdeeds
Remember Shulman sitting before the committee being asked why did he visit the White House 157 times, more than twice that of any other of the Administration’s lackeys, he said he was taking his family to the White House Easter Egg Hunt. And he said it with a smart-aleck grin that said, “You can’t do anything to me.”
Then there was Lerner, who back on May 22, said this:
“I have not done anything wrong. I have not broken any laws, I have not violated any IRS rules or regulations, and I have not provided false information to this or any other congressional committee.”
Lerner then said that while she “would very much like to answer the committee’s questions,” her counsel advised her to assert her constitutional right not to testify or answer questions related to the subject matter of the hearing.”
Folks, these abuses of power and subterfuge need to be stopped. I can guarantee if it were you or me sitting there telling lies to a Congressional committee, we be in jail – in a heartbeat.
It’s time for these committees to do their job and see that accountability results from these hearings. People need to go to jail, many people need to go to jail over the ever-increasing scandals in this Administration.
When I watched Lerner open her testimony with her statements of innocence then say “her attorney” recommended pleading the fifth, I thought I was on TV with Jeff Foxworthy and she was asking the American public, “Are you smarter than a fifth grader?”
Her lawyer knew she was guilty of “illegally” harassing conservative groups and she better keep her mouth shut.
Her boss, Lew, slapped her hands, sent her home – with full pay – and by numerous reports, she’s still accessing IRS computers from her home. Makes you wonder who she’s going after, doesn’t it.
Like I said, we commoners would be in jail, but all the stooges in the Administration seem to be untouchable.
Why is that?
Why can’t the American people have the truth?
It’s totally unacceptable to decent-minded people, regardless of party affiliations.
There was a political cartoon ran earlier this week that made a good point.
The national media and Democrats love to perpetuate the myth that the GOP is the party of “No,” yet these last six months have shown the Democrats are the party of “I don’t know.”
And it starts at the top and runs downhill: “I wasn’t aware of it until I heard it on the news when you all did,” Obama said recently.
Baloney, Mr. President, we are smarter than fifth graders.
