Partnership provides easy ways to make donations at the check-stand, online, text messaging, or by mail for emergency assistance

In response to the unimaginable tragedy in Haiti, Dillon Stores and Red Cross have partnered to provide an easy way for customers and employees to make donations at all Dillons, Baker’s, Gerbes and the Fremont Food-4-Less locations across Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. The contributions collected will benefit the relief effort in Haiti.

Today through Jan. 30, customers and employees will have the option to give a cash donation or round-up their order to the nearest dollar at the register, when doing their regular grocery shopping.

“On behalf of the people affected by this disaster, the Red Cross truly appreciates the continued support from Dillon Stores,” said Red Cross spokesperson Carolyn Henry. “The money raised will provide food, water and shelter at a time needed most.”

“The generosity of our customers and employees is truly remarkable,” said Sheila Lowrie, Dillon Stores spokeswoman. “Time and time again, our customers and employees step forward to help when disasters strike. Thanks to our partnership with the Red Cross, we all have an opportunity to reach out a hand to earthquake victims in Haiti who so desperately need our help. Every donation counts and we thank our customers and associates for their support.”

Customers may also join in helping the Haiti earthquake victims by making a direct donation by visiting their local Red Cross. Donations can also be accepted online, through cell phone text messaging, or by mail:

Online: Visit www.dillons.com, or www.bakersplus.com or www.gerbes.com and click on Haiti Earthquake Relief to make an online donation for the American Red Cross relief efforts through their secure Web site

Cell phone: Use a cell phone to make a donation. When people text HAITI to 90999, a $10 charge will be billed to their cell phone as a donation to the American Red Cross.

Mail: Checks made payable to the American Red Cross benefitting the relief effort in Haiti should be mailed to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013.
